The Fig Tree

What do I mean by “Fig Tree Reborn”? Why did I call it that? Let’s look at the book of Hosea:

10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

Israel is the Fig Tree.

In Matthew 24, Jesus talks about the rebirth of Israel (reblooming of the fig tree). saying:

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Israel was later destroyed, in 70 AD. After that, Israel ceased to exist. It was just like Persia and Babylon, ancient nations that are now little more than mere memories.

In 1948, the Nation of Israel was…wait, what? That can’t be right. The Nation of Israel was reborn? After being gone for nearly 2,000 years? I looked and couldn’t find any other example of a nation being defeated then being re-established 2,000 years later. Not only that, but this was prophesied several times in the Bible.

Right, so a generation won’t pass until “these things” happen. We know that the starting point is 1948. How long is a generation? Well, if you read this page, it will explain that a generation is 70 to 80 years. Which means that these things will happen before either 2018 or 2028. Note that it doesn’t say that Christ will return in this time, just that these things will happen before that generation passes.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Notice I am not specifying a specific date. All these false prophets calling out random dates have themselves been prophesied about.

When studying scripture. Context is key to understanding. It’s widely preached that Jesus will come like a thief in the night, that we will have no way of knowing when these things will occur, so we shouldn’t even discuss them. While the Bible does say the “thief in the night” line, if you keep reading it’s revealed a few verses later that it will only be that way for those who aren’t ready.

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
